If you like Django Reinhardt, there are three of his sides on these discs, but the real attraction is an introduction to a bushel of European artists of the same period, some of whom are right up there with Django. There are no liner notes (a sad omission) but there are groups here, not only French, but Dutch, Spanish and Swedish, that I'd like to hear more from and more about. A standout is guitarist Sarane Ferret, who really swings. Just a bit of this doesn't sound either gypsy or jazzy, but most of it provides a good deal of rarefied pleasure.-Ronald Gold
